Evelyna Radoslavova was born in Bulgaria, and became a bookworm at the tender age of six, when she spent the summer with her schoolteacher grandpa who had no TV, but an extensive library. She spoke English with her grandma as a child and, after graduating high school in France, obtained a diploma in French Language and Literature (majoring in Medieval Literature, because she wanted to translate the really romantic stories!), with a second major in English, from the University of Sofia in Bulgaria.

Then she settled in Canada, working for a big accounting firm, then for a medical clinic, then for the translation department of a law firm. She moved West, until the only West that was left was the Far East. Since she was moving so much, it only made sense to take her job with her. She currently works out of the second floor of her apartment as a full-time freelance translator with an excellent knowledge of the Canadian and international markets and translator communities.

She recently obtained her ATA certification from English into French (she is also CTTIC-certified from Bulgarian into French). She is a member of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes du Québec (OTTIAQ), the Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia (STIBC) and the American Translators Association (ATA); in June 2006, she was elected president of STIBC. She marks CTTIC exams. She regularly attends professional seminars and conferences. Translation is her calling and her passion, even though romantic stories seldom (OK, never!) come her way to translate.

On a personal note, she loves animals, skiing and snowboarding in winter, windsurfing and cycling in summer, and she still prefers reading to TV. She has taken roots in Vancouver, and finds it harder and harder to leave, even for short periods. And she is writing her own romantic story with the man who encouraged and helped her to conquer her personal Everest – crossing the Peruvian Andes on bicycle, just the two of them.
